Wearable technology is among the emerging technologies that an arts manager may want to consider. Wearable are frequently based on RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology. Earlier this year, I gave readers some background on RFID technology and where it may go next for the performing arts. Additionally, last year, AMT Lab contributor Anne Marie Padelford wrote at length about RFID technology in museums. From education and engagement to ticketing, museums are using RFID to connect with and better understand their visitors.

This report describes the capabilities of RFID and provides a quick overview of it’s many uses within the entertainment and performing arts sphere, where increasingly creative deployments are adding value to large-scale events for both audience and presenter. It will also probe the future of RFID while considering its potential use on a smaller scale relevant to most arts organizations. Click here for the full report.
