This week, as a part of AMT Lab's White Paper Wednesday series, we are looking back at Graciela Kahn's 2014 publication, Using Spatial Data to Advance Programming Missions: A Site Desirability Study for Public Art Projects in the City of Pittsburgh, Pa. This introduction to the utility of Geographic Information Systems for Arts Organizations looks specifically at a case study in which Public Art officials in Pittsburgh used data to decide where to install new pieces. Though the tools for GIS mapping have advanced in the last two years, the principles for using geographic data remain the same.
