The Carnegie Museum of Art is currently shining a spotlight on the relationship between Arts and Tech with their Transforming Fashion exhibition. Transforming Fashion features the work of Dutch designer Iris van Herpen. Van Herpen has gained worldwide acclaim for her innovative ability to integrate technology into fashion.
While there are many fascinating designs on display in the exhibit, the ones featured below have all been created by a 3D printer. Van Herpen is considered a leader in the field because of her techniques using 3D printing for garment construction.
3D Printing is a topic AMT Lab has covered extensively in the past. It is exciting to see creative applications for 3D printing in art and design, suggesting inevitable wider use in our society.
Has your arts organization used 3D Printing technology? If so, how? Let us know in the comments below!
