New Year, New Team, New Focus – What’s in Store for our Readers
Greetings AMT Lab Readers,
With summer drawing to a close, AMT Lab is just beginning a new year of research. We have many pertinent and interesting topics that we will cover in the coming months. Check out the infographic for a comprehensive list! Many of these topics were sourced from the reader poll conducted in April. Thank you for your participation, and we hope you’ll stop by regularly to see what the team is reporting on. Amt Lab will also introduce several new fields of study such as Fundraising, Development, and Marketing technology. We will also delve into CRM systems and A/R once again to provide you with the current, best practices for Arts Managers. Additional topics for research include Digital Security and Infrastructure, Data Visualization, Location based apps for the arts, Tech-aided accessibility, and Art Education Tech.
If this past year has shown us anything, it’s that what we do, as Arts Managers, matters. Based on the success of the NEA grants map posted in March, the AMT Lab team will be focusing on providing you with the tools you need. AMT Lab will show you how to leverage technology to advocate for causes you care most deeply for.
Our team is excited for what this new year will bring in discoveries from our researchers and developments in the field at large. As always, we would love to hear from you as we continue to explore the intersection of technology and the arts. Liz Kane, Chief Editor of Research
Liz is a classically trained French hornist and arts manager. Her appreciation of technology grew out of using tech to improve practice techniques, and out of a love for new music. She applied this knowledge working for various organizations in the Boston area where she was able to observe several different organizations use and misuse the available technology. Liz hopes to bring these experiences and a natural curiosity to shape our researcher’s paths and bring our readers balanced and in-depth articles.
Drew Porter, Chief Editor of Interactive Content
Drew’s undergraduate background focused in performance and technical theater. A hobbyist-level interest in computers and technology has driven Drew to see his favorite tech implemented within the arts world. Overseeing the channels interactive content, he hopes to provide contributors and readers with new insights as to how they can present their findings and data in new and interactive ways, such as data visualization. Drew hopes these objectives will allow readers to engage with our content in ways that inspire and inform.
