An interview with Eric Shiner, Director, The Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh, PA.

Daniel: What are the apps you use every day, and why do you like them?

A screenshot of Eric Shiner's iPhone.

Eric: I use about ten apps regularly each day.  I communicate with my friends overseas using What's App; get around town using the Maps app; stay in touch with the world via the Facebook app; track down answers to unusual questions on the Google app; play Scrabble before I go to bed on the Scrabble app; keep my travel organized on a multitude of airline apps; order a car on the Uber app; tune in to Andy Warhol's grave on the EarthCam app (yes, we actually partnered with them on the development of our Figment project!); and purchase music on the iTunes Store app.  I like them all because they make my life easier!

Daniel: Is there an app you think developers should be working on?

Eric: A "Take the Dog out for a Walk" app would be great, but obviously I don't see that coming along anytime soon.

Daniel: Is there an app that surprised you with its usefulness?

Eric: I like the Waze app because it gets me out of traffic and redirects me to faster routes.

Daniel: If you could recommend one app for every arts manager, what would it be?

Eric: I love the myPantone app because you can figure out an exact color name on any color, which proves useful to me as an art historian.
