Teaching Arts Through Tech is a 3-part podcast series of interviews with individuals making contributions to the field of integrated arts and tech.  These interviews will also inform my semester-long research project, culminating in a White Paper about using technology to facilitate integrated arts learning.

My first interviewee was Jane Alexander, Chief Information Officer at The Cleveland Museum of Art.

• Visitors now expect smartphone-friendly tech in museums.
• Technology development can take up to two years - a digital strategy is essential to a project’s success.
• Many resources are available to assist digital strategy development; the Tate Museum was cited as an outstanding example.
• Use technology as a tool to feature the art, rather than making it the focal point.  A great art collection is the best resource.
• Jane’s biggest takeaway was to ensure experts represent each area. Collaboration is important but it’s essential to hear and trust these experts.
